How to Use Pimple Patches
How to Use LivaClean Pimple Patches
Pimple patches work best when applied correctly. Follow these steps for maximum absorption and faster healing.
Step 1: Cleanse Your Skin
Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry completely. Pimple patches stick best to clean, dry skin without any oils, serums, or moisturizers underneath. Skip your skincare products on the area you plan to patch.
Step 2: Choose the Right Size
Select a patch that fully covers the blemish with a small border around it. For whiteheads and surface pimples, use our standard star patches. For deeper, cystic breakouts, try our XL large patches or microdart patches that deliver ingredients below the surface.
Step 3: Peel and Apply
Peel the patch from its backing and press it firmly onto the blemish. Hold for 5-10 seconds to ensure a good seal. Avoid touching the sticky side with your fingers to keep the adhesive strong.
Step 4: Leave It On
Wear your patch for at least 6 hours, or overnight for best results. Our hydrocolloid patches absorb pus and fluid from the blemish, turning white as they work. The longer you leave them, the more they can absorb.
Step 5: Remove and Replace
Gently peel the patch off. If the patch has turned white or opaque, it has absorbed impurities from the pimple. Apply a fresh patch if the blemish is still active. Follow with your regular skincare routine.
Tips for Best Results
- Apply to bare skin — no serums, moisturizers, or sunscreen underneath
- Do not pop — let the patch draw out impurities naturally
- Use overnight — 8+ hours gives the best absorption
- Store in a cool place — heat can weaken the adhesive
- Pair with salicylic acid — our patches contain salicylic acid and tea tree oil that work while you sleep
