Everything you need to give your diabetic pet injections safely and confidently. Step-by-step guide, insulin safety, emergency info and more.
Poki Pet syringes are U-40 only. Using the wrong syringe with the wrong insulin can cause a fatal dosing error.
2.5x MORE insulin than intended. Life-threatening hypoglycemia within hours.
2.5x LESS insulin than intended. Hyperglycemia and diabetic crisis over time.
If you are unsure which insulin your pet is on, check the bottle label or call your veterinarian before purchasing or using any syringe. Your vet is always the right first call.
A licensed veterinarian walks through the full injection technique step by step. Watch once before your first pin.
Demonstrated by a licensed veterinarian. Always follow your own vet's specific dosing instructions.
Read through once before your first injection. After a few days it becomes second nature — we promise.
Confirm your pet has eaten. Confirm insulin says U-40. Check expiry date and inspect for cloudiness or particles. Wash hands. Roll bottle gently — never shake.
Pull plunger to your dose, insert needle into the vial stopper, push in fully, then pull back to your mark. Check for bubbles and push them out.
Pinch loose skin, insert at 45°, push slowly. Withdraw, apply gentle pressure, cap immediately. Give the treat. Log the time and dose.
Every step, in full detail.
Insulin should always be given with food unless your vet specifically instructs otherwise. If your pet has not eaten their meal, do not inject — contact your veterinarian first. Skipping a meal before injection can cause dangerous hypoglycemia. Wash your hands, lay out your supplies, and keep a treat ready for after.
Confirm the label says U-40 and check the expiry date — never use expired insulin. Inspect the liquid before drawing: Vetsulin should be uniformly milky after rolling; ProZinc and PZI should be uniformly cloudy. Discard if you see clumps, floating particles, or unusual color. Gently roll the bottle between your palms to mix. Never shake — shaking creates air bubbles that affect dose accuracy.
Remove the cap. Pull the plunger to your prescribed dose. Insert the needle into the rubber stopper, push in fully, then slowly pull back to your dose mark. If you see air bubbles, flick and push them out, then redraw.
Gently pinch a fold of loose skin at the injection site. Insert the needle at a 45° angle into the tent, smooth side facing up. Push the plunger slowly and steadily.
Pull the needle out at the same angle. Apply gentle pressure for a few seconds. Do not rub. Cap and discard the syringe immediately — each syringe is single use only. Never reuse: the needle dulls after one use (causing more pain), and sterility is lost after first puncture. Give the treat — every time.
Write down the time, dose, injection site, and whether your pet ate. This protects against double-dosing and gives your vet critical data at checkups.
Diabetic pets need daily injections. The right syringe, the right guide, and a brand that actually cares makes all the difference.
Most diabetic dogs in the US use Vetsulin — a U-40 insulin. Poki Pet syringes are designed exactly for this. 29G needle, 1/2cc barrel, 120 per box. Always confirm your dog's insulin type and dose with your veterinarian before use.
Compatible with ProZinc and PZI — both U-40 insulins used for cats. Thin 29G needle means minimal stress. Important: Many cats are prescribed Lantus (glargine) or Levemir, which are U-100 — NOT compatible with these syringes. Always confirm your cat's insulin is U-40 with your vet before purchasing.
Rotate injection sites every time. Store supplies correctly to keep insulin effective.
Both conditions are emergencies. Knowing which one changes what you do next.

From families managing diabetes every day, just like yours.
"Biscuit doesn't even flinch anymore. We switched from another brand and I could tell the difference immediately. The needle is genuinely thinner. We're on week 4 now and the whole routine takes under 2 minutes."
"I was terrified for the first injection. This guide page helped so much. The syringe draws cleanly every time, zero air bubbles. My vet said our technique looks great at our last checkup."
"Luna has been on ProZinc for 8 months. These syringes made a real difference. She barely reacts now. 29G is very thin. Good price for 120. Reordering my third box."
"Three boxes in and no complaints. The price for 120 syringes beats everything else I've found and the quality matches what I've seen at the vet's office. Will keep reordering."
